Chocolate Cake
Makes enough cake for roughly twelve people
Ingredients
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1&3/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1&1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1&1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Procedure
- Heat oven to 350F, and grease two 9-inch round baking pans
- Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
- Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, beat until combined
- Stir in water, and spread batter evenly between the two pans
- Put the pans in the oven, set a timer for 35 minutes, and start making the icing!
MINI RECIPE: ICING
Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup milk (add more as needed)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Procedure
- Melt butter
- Combine butter and cocoa
- Alternate between adding powdered sugar and milk until both are gone
- Continue adding milk if needed, until the icing is smooth and silky
- Mix in vanilla
- Check if the cakes are done with the toothpick test, then remove, ice, and enjoy!
