Apple Crisp
Makes a 9x13 pan of crisp
Ingredients
- 6-8 medium-to-large apples (depends on size but you want enough slices to fill the pan to your desired thickness)
- 1&1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider (you can also use water if you so choose, but if you do compensate by also adding in ~a teaspoon of corn starch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1&1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 12 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
Procedure
- Preheat oven to 375F
- Peel and slice apples, to the size and shape desired
- Toss the apple slices with half a cup of sugar, apple cider, and cinnamon
- Lay the apple mixture evenly into the baking pan
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour with the rest of the sugar, the salt, and the butter (you may want to cube the butter first)
- Blend the flour mixture together with two forks, crossing the forks and pressing them down repeatedly until the butter is fully broken up
- Take the flour mixture and lay it over the apples by hand, patting it down as you go
- Bake for between 40 and 90 minutes, until the top is browning visibly, then let cool, serve (with vanilla ice cream if you want) and enjoy!
